Indie's running adventures

Every 2nd Saturday of June, 7 runners arrive in Lake Tahoe.   Well, they arrive Friday, and decide, over beer and pizza, who will run what of the 7 legs, that comprise laketahoerelay.com. A tradition that started in 2002, has continued to this day. And what a blessing it is to see the next generation join us on this. Beautiful!

Vibha works for upliftment of underprivileged so in a way this race was a small contribution to their efforts.   Keep up the good work guys! Wasn't sure if I was up for a race but this went much better than I had expected.   Smaller race, in a double loop of 13 miles in south san jose (Hellyer trail). The volunteers were awesome.

It had to happen some day. First DNF! Ohlone 50k is one of my favourites run in bay area.  Was my first ever ultra back in 2007 I believe. It's a tough race and takes runners from Mission peak parking lot at Stanford avenue across Sunol, over Rose peak and finally finishing at the lake in Del Valle Park, Livermore.   The week leading upto the race didn't go very well.  I got some stomach bug which led to diarrhea and Monday to Thursday had me lose a lot of weight.  Did my best to catch up by bumping up calories and rest, and showed up early morning Sunday for the race.   First 10 miles to Sunol went well but no shade and continued hills were starting to take its toll post that...and the next 15 uphill/noshade weren't gonna be good.  Can I make it to mile 25 post which things are just downhill....decision ....decision... Took me a while but I knew this wasn't my day and hills will have to wait another day.   Turned back at 13 and hitched a ride back to start.
