I suppose doing a marathon is a lot like growing things and feeding folks - if you do it well, you don't have energy at the end of the day to complain about much

This Sunday is marathon #4 for Lotus Petal (tinyurl.com/arun12in12lp).  

Modesto is California’s country side, land of farmers and if you have been there, you know the Punjab पिंड  feel, the fresh air and नंगल  like नहर  running around the edge of farms :)  Never got to run in Punjab during childhood days but this comes close!

Love the priorities the city has, as engraved on their city gate - "Water Wealth Contentment Health"

So off to run in the peaceful country side, vineyards, orchards and to say thanks to the farmers who put food on the table. 



Would like to mention how this marathon has gone over and beyond accommodating runners.
1. Can’t attend expo, no worries, pick up bib/swag at race start.
2. Oh btw, swag includes a bottle of Modesto wine and jacket.
3. And those on-course photographers who charge a million bucks for race photos, it's FREE here :-)

Marathon #2 Crystal Springs Marathon, Jan 21, 2017

Marathon # 2 for Lotus petal. Donate Cisco Matching (Requires Cisco VPN, detailed instructions below)   We are blessed to be living in bay area.  Running mecca it is. Only here can you think about choosing to do a marathon a month, and find marathons each month within an hour's drive. For January, I picked Crystal Springs Trail Run Marathon , in Woodside, CA.  They are managed by Coastal trail runs group.    I have done some 50k's with these guys before kids were born some 7-8 years ago (read as when my legs used to love uphills).  They really have a professional staff and well marked courses and the beer/hot-soup/grilled-sandwiches aren't something you get to see at road races.   God bless them. When I parked at Hubbart park (start line area), it was pouring.  Heavy pouring!
